## Story of Certn

Andrew McLeod, Evan Dalton, and Owen Madrick came up with Certn in 2016. By 2018, Certn had launched a tenant background screening product for landlords and property managers.

One year later in 2019, Certn started offering online criminal records checks for employers and others.

The Certn name is rooted in our commitment to building trust. At the centre of our hexagon logo, which represents Certn’s secure technology, sits a heart to symbolize that people and clients are at the core. The mark is mathematically crafted to reflect the precision of the work we do.

Timeline:

- **2016**

- **2018**  
  Tenant screening for landlords and property managers is available

- **2019**  
  Online criminal record checks are available, too

- **2021**  
  $43M in Series A funding to expand the types of online checks

- **2022**  
  Certn acquires Credence Background Screening & InterCheck; $80M in Series B funding to scale globally

  Certn acquires Trustmatic to enhance ID verification
